Monument to the Unknown Soldier

Monument to the Unknown Soldier is located in the city center, the capital of Bulgaria.

Situated on the south side of the Sofia basilica “St. Sofia” on street “Paris” №2.

The monument was erected as a remembrance of the hundreds of thousands of Bulgarian soldiers, died for their country in wars, led by the Bulgarian State.

monument combines “eternal fire”, finger of Starozagorsko- engagement and Shipka battle, which is one of the most important battles in the Russo-Turkish War 1877-1878 year, statue of the lion lying down on the old monument – Bulgarian national symbol, by the famous sculptor Andrei Nikolov, pylons with Bulgarian flag and a stone plaque.
