Museum of Socialist Art is a museum in Sofia, affiliate of the National Gallery of Art.
This is the first museum institution in Bulgaria, designed to collect, protects and presents examples of Bulgarian art, created during 1944 – 1989 city, thematically related to the socialist era.
The museum was opened on 19 September 2011 g. a solemn ceremony, attended by PM Boyko Borisov, Deputy Prime Ministers Tsvetan Tsvetanov and Simeon Dyankov, Regional Development Minister Lilyana Pavlova, Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova, MPs and other officials. Angel Angelov priest of the Orthodox Church "St. Sofia" celebrate festive ceremony.
It presented works from the period of socialist government in Bulgaria (1944-1989). In the park area 7 500 m exposed over 70 works of monumental sculpture. Special pedestal is exhibited great five-pointed star, crowned the former Party House in Sofia. In the hall with an area of 550 m temporary exhibitions of subject matter-thematic lines indicate ideological forms of art. In the video room are projected archival and documentary films. The store offers a variety of catalogs and advertising materials and souvenirs.
